Search Engine Real-Estate Primed for Niche Developers
The search engine war continues to flourish up to this date. With the fight among Google, Bing, Yahoo, AOL, Ask, and Firefox/Google; the stakes of the search engine wars are raised significantly. Chitika, a research specialist, has published an outstanding study about search engine shares in the internet in the current time. Though it should be noted that the research that they have conducted does not reflect the whole market, such can provide a view on how the search engine market war is progressing. Why is this important? Well, it reflects a bigger role in the search engine’s business capacity and the likes.
Currently, Google enjoys the biggest share in the search engine market having a score of 82.45%. Followed by Bing with 8.56%, Yahoo with 6.69%, AOL with 1.22%, Ask with 1.07% and Google/Firefox with 9.18%. With this at hand, it can be seen the Firefox is a major contributor in Google’s success in the search engine market. According to the research company, Firefox was able to drive 23% of the search traffic, which highly aided Google in its effort to dominate the market. However, the contract between Google and Mozilla will end in 2011. Surely, there will be some serious implication on how Google will cope without Firefox at hand.
New trends could jolt these giants of whole web search platforms and allow for social engines to be developed. Early adapters are segmented by certain groups formed out of the social media sector. Developers focused on this sector could swiftly enter the market as long as fear of the larger companies doesn't impair the developer’s vision.
Current advantages of using Whole Web Search Engines;
1. The indexes of search engines are usually vast, representing significant portions of the Internet, offering a wide variety and quantity of information resources.
2. The growing sophistication of search engine software enables us to precisely describe the information that we seek.
3. The large number and variety of search engines enriches the Internet, making it at least appear to be organized.
> Note: Primed Markets and Lead Banks were generated for companies that appear higher in result listings.
The Next Layer
"Companies that focused and depended on search engine listings and superior search result criteria could one day find themselves paying employees additional commissions or bonuses that are non work related", says CEO Lael Alexander of Noitavonne Instruments. "Forwarding incentives to employees that allow their employer to market direct to their extended social networks could be pronounced as the next progressive bargaining chip". Employers will learn to extend their brands thru this medium bringing in the 2nd Age of Collaborative Marketing.
Technology is being developed that makes this idea a reality. Whole Web Search Platforms will always have its place in the web. Companies like Google and Bing will continue to design, map, and build web infrastructure that continue to improve upon items like user experience, speed and interaction.
Still, there are companies already positioning offerings of the next generation. Social Engines, Reverse Resolution Protocols, Stratus Apps and more.
